Basement Bathroom

Over Thanksgiving my father in-law was here and we working on the bathroom in the for a day. We installed all the pipe work for the shower, toilet and sink. All I have to do now is just put up some drywall and add some turn off valves before attaching the sink, toilet and shower. The shower is going to be the hardest part. I have to tap into the drain yet for the shower. That is going to dictate how much I need to raise up the shower. I am not jack hammering into the cement for the shower drain so the shower will have a step going up to it.

After everything was set and we turned on the water there was one leak. We fixed that and then another one. Fixed that and then one final leak. That seems to do it. All the leaks were at the copper to PVC connections so it was easy fixes.

The hardest part of the day was cutting down the toilet drain pipe about an inch and a half. I bought a sawzall from Menard’s and it took a while but we got it down to were it needs to be. Thanks to Terra for going and getting the right blade. After that is was pretty much butter!

Here are a few photos.

  1. Will the bathroom be done by the time the Fat Tire Keg is tapped?

  2. That is a good question. I would like to have the sink and the toilet in but the wall down to the basement will not be done since I have to leave it open to get the rest of the drywall down there. But I will put up a sheet for you BethAnn so you can drop one in the new toilet. ;)
