3 Bands You Should Listen To

Well, I have been on a binge lately. Scouring the web for new that inspires me. Here are 3 bands that are tops on my list right now. Give them a listen and let me know what you think. Do you have some that you are into that is not played on the radio? Let me know about it!

Tokyo Police Club
Their lyrics are infectious and they sound kind of English pop. But they are not from bloody old England. You can check them out http://tokyopoliceclub.com/. Here is one of the songs that has been on constant play for me lately.

Younder
These guys have a definite country twang to them but I would consider then Alternative / Acoustic / Folk Rock. Good stuff for sure if you like Alt-Country. They are on Northern Dust Records.Jump out to their MySpace site and give Wear a Frown a listen. Jesus Freaks is also a good song. Here is what little information I can find out about them.

“It was about three o’clock in the morning and Zachary and Alison were at a closing night party for a play they’d done together. Zach was mumble-singing a song of his and Ali started to jam along – it was love at first play, and they never looked back. They started to play together around town, and a few months later added drums, bass, electric guitar, and banjo to form what is now known as YONDER. Gawd help us all…”

Gabriel Minnikin
Do you like The Guthries? Then you will like Gabriel. He was a one time member of The Guthries. His stuff if pretty depression so it maybe my favorite stuff that I have listed out for you here. Sing with me,

“Two fifteen on a Friday and so cold outside. Sun start to come out slowly. Where did you go, where did you hide. It has been so long”.

Makes me want to get a beer and do some thinking! Good stuff. Check out his MySpace site for more songs.

And if you are paying attention, for bonus points, all three of these bands have something in common. Can you tell me what it is? I don’t know if Dan will read this post or not but you would be proud Dan!

If think I have found a place to purchase all three of these bands music so if you are interested post a comment and I will give more details.

Cheers and happy listening.

  1. hey, check out http://www.soundthesirens.com/music/. My bf interned with them last summer and still writes reviews for them occasionally. He’ll be glad I’m plugging the site.
