Headed down after work to get my half marathon packet. I also picked up my friend Paul’s packet. He is coming down from Minneapolis to run as well. He is also an active member of My Fitness Challenge.
On a sour note my back is just terrible! I had to call my doctor today and get a refill on my muscle relaxers and blood thinners. I get a 30 day supply when I do a refill. I bet I only get the prescription filled 3 times a year. It is really too bad that my back is acting up just days before my first race. Oh well, what is a little more pain anyway. Bring it on!
Here are a few photos I managed to snap while down at the convention center where the pickup was taking place.

Shoot brother, hate to hear about your back. I myself was so bad that I had to have back surgery. Check out the gruesome MRI at:

I now solely run trails to minimize the impact to my spine, and have had to tailor my gym workouts to avoid any major stress to the back. After all of that pain I’m a bit paranoid about repeating the whole affair.
Hoping that this won’t be a deal breaker for you. I’ve never run a marathon. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do but simply do not have the time to train for. The wife and I will be pulling for you. Looking forward to the updates!
I have had surgery as well. It is not fun. Mine was back in 1998 or there about. I have degenerate back disease. Low disks have lost their sponginess and pretty brittle. In my case the L5 disc broke apart and lodged a big chunk the size of my pinky nail in my sciatic nerve. They removed the pieces and shaved off part of the bone on my spine in the L5 area. I have back pain pretty much every day since. Some days it is bad like now. But keeping my weight down helps. It was okay for the marathon but today is pretty sore.
