I have been playing around with the video of my first trail footage since yesterday. I have been frustrated with YouTube quality so I am hosting video on my blog now. Here is a quick recap of what I have come up with for my conversion and compression settings. I am pretty happy with these so I thought I would share them in hopes of helping someone else out.
I am importing the video from my Panasonic PV-GS250 Camcorder in to iMove 08. I am shooting with a helmet camera going into the AV In on the GS250. Here is more infomration on my setup http://www.husar.us/blog/archives/276. After I add my intro and exit credits and have the right amount of video I need to export it (Share >> Export using QuickTime) using the following settings. Click the icon on the left to see final settings.
Now I have .mov file saved to my Macbook Pro. For 5 minutes of video I end up with .mov between 1GB to 1.30GB. Pretty big files but not too bad to manage.
Next I open Adobe Flash CS3 Video Encoder. Add the .mov file to be converted to the .flv. Now click on the Settings button and look at these three screenshots.
I have found these pretty good for my purposes. These will render down the 1+ GB .mov down to a 30MB file. I want to experiment a little more but the results are much better than uploading to YouTube.
If you find this useful let me know. If you have something better for your settings please do tell.
