Netflix Player Announced and Available

I just seen Netflix released their streaming box and it is very cool. $99 and unlimited movies. You will need a Netflicks account of $9 or more to use it. This just might get me back to using the Netflix service. You can pause, stop, and play the movies just like you were using the DVD. You can also will use the normal snail-mail DVD option with your account. The box has HDMI but doesn’t come with any cables. All the other connections are there as well.

The box is made by Roku and sold by them. I really don’t think you can beat this deal and the only draw back I see is that new releases won’t be available on their release day. But you always have the DVD order option. Check out all the juicy details at http://www.roku.com/netflixplayer/.

* Over 10,000 movies and TV episodes instantly
* No change in monthly Netflix costs and you continue to get your DVDs by mail
* Easily connects directly to your TV
* Pause, rewind or play anytime – just like a DVD
* Guaranteed to work with your TV

  1. Just what I want, another box next to my TV. They need to get a good partner, like Microsoft with the xbox 360. Hell, my parents have a 360!!!!

  2. That is what everyone else is saying as well. You currently can use the Xbox to do some NetFlix stuff. I seen that on Gizmodo already. But you need a Vista machine in the background I think. I guess two other companies are building NetFlix boxes as well.

Netflix still doesn’t support Mac so I am waiting for that to get straightened out before I get anything. But if my 360 supported Netflix I would be all over that.

  3. What would be nice is if they sent info in the background when they are ready to do new releases and HD. I think DirecTV does that now. Then when you are ready to watch it is already there. I did read new TV series are available as soon as they come out.
