Nanovision Mimo 7” Display
The week a lot of the tech. gadget sites announced the US availability of a series of mini monitors from Nanovision. The Mimo series have only been available in Korea up until now. These monitors would be perfect for a project I want to create for my home pub.
The project is a simple one. I want to have a touch screen monitor that I can use next to my tap for tracking beers. Without going into too much detail every time someone get a beer from the tap I would have a touch screen app that tracks each person when they click a predefined button I assign to them. Then over time I could report on the data to see all kinds of interesting stats. Like how many pints do I get out of the kegs I buy, what kegs I have bought in the past, who is drinking them and when they are drinking them, also how quick I go through kegs would be nice. I will write a custom app to do everything I need. With a touch screen the user would just touch their own predefined button and that is all. The app would track everything in a database and most likely be web enabled. Maybe even snap a photo of friends pulling the tap handle and show on the web with historical data and time stamp.
But back to the first step of getting my hands on a decent, small, touch screen monitor. My prayers have been answered with the Nanovision Mimo UM-740. It is a 7”, 800×400, USB Powered, touch screen monitor with horizontal and vertical display. Mac and Win are supported.

Hey Ed, maybe you should multi-purpose that to control your media center too?
I certainly could. I have everything running through FrontStage on a mac and it let’s me use the Apple remove. It is pretty convenient with the remote. I don’t even have a mouse of keyboard hooked up to it. I will Screen Share into it if I do need to use a mouse or keyboard.
Dude, that is a cool gadget! I’m a little disturbed by the inventory control / marketing database you intend to compile. You better have an “opt-in / opt-out” waiver or I ain’t touching that thing!
I need to see if those screens have Crestron capabilities I so I can use it with my pre-amp!
Maybe I will have to give aliases to the publicly viewable stats. Or maybe that is just the price you have to pay to drink for free at The House of Husar.
