I have been on the hunt for a few key iPhone apps lately. Since I am home sick I thought I would mention a few of them today. The first is a decent photo editor.
Most of the photo editing apps are just toys that don’t really give the serious iPhonetographer what they really need. Some specialize in photo processing effects that are nice like black and white or vintage camera effect. Things like level/straighten, rotate, sharpness, full color adjustments with levels, gama adjustments, and cropping are hard to find in one single app.
Enter Photogene. This app is the mother of all photo editing apps on the iPhone right now and has won many awards and been called “best of” many times. I just recently decided to pay the $2.99 price tag after messing with just about all the free photo editing apps.
I have to say I am really impressed with Photogene. All the feature mention above are there and you can make adjustments real time. No long waits to see the changes on your photos. The interface is easy to navigate and full of everything, and then some, you could want when editing photos on your iPhone. There are also borders and frames that can be added to your photos if you need them. Editing photos horizontally is a nice feature that I like like to take advantage of. And having undo/redo is really useful. With so many features it is hard to mention them all so check out the tutorials on their website: http://www.i-photogene.com/photogene/Tutorial.html
When it comes to photoediting apps on the iPhone there really is no other app worth buying right now. Photogene is well worth the $2.99 price tag.
