This weekend we jumped down to KC. Terra’s parents are now living down there so we planned to go check out their new place. On the way down Jason from the Nada’s confirmed I could come out to their gig at the Nelson-Atkins Museum. I called my buddy Tyson and asked if he would let me borrow one of his cameras to shoot the Nada’s that night. He was nice enough to hook me up with his 20D along with a couple of lenses. So the plan was to hit Terra’s parents house first. Then Terra would drop me off downtown for my ink sitting at The Mercy Seat. My appointment was from 6-9. Then I would catch a cab down to the Nelson-Atkins to shoot the Nadas. After that jump over to Westport and meet up with Terra and our friends for some spirits to dull the pain from The Mercy Seat. Things did not work out as expected but we still had a good weekend.
Mark was running behind so I did not get into the mercy seat until 7:30 instead of 6:00. That got me out of there at 10:00. By the time I made it down to the Nelson-Atkins the Nada’s were in mid set. Plus it was a packed event and I couldn’t really get in decent photo position since there was no way to get in front of the band due to the amount of people and the layout of the event. I just hung out and talked to a few people. I got a hold of Terra and she came and picked me up to meet friends out in West Port. We hit a few spots but it was pretty uneventful. The night ended with Rob, Marlee and I playing Guitar Hero until 4:30 AM back at my sister in-laws.
The ink session went well even if it was a little short. Two people stopped down to the Mercy Seat that have been following my progress on the blog and my flickr account. It was nice to meet them both. They are both in the early stages of getting Mark to work on them. I can’t wait to see their work over the next few months!
I will get a better photo up on the blog tonight to show the latest progress. But for now here is a Polaroid I took on my iPhone with the Polarize app.
We hit the pagoda (of pain) for the most part this session. All the windows are in. We also did a little work on the geisha’s gown. This was my first session with it being really cold outside. My body had a hard time keeping in its heat so I shook a little during the clenching and relaxing that ensues when getting the rib work done. Painful still for sure. It seemed more painful I think with it being cold out and not being about the keep the body heat in.
We were late getting back to WDM on Sunday so I did not get anything I wanted to do done on Sunday. I think I fell asleep on the chair at about 8:00 before crawling into bed and finishing out the night. I slept good but as usual after a ink day I had really strange dreams.
