Game Not Over Update
Here is what I am having printed tomorow for the arcade machine. I found the original image over at http://www.neillockhart.com/geekstuff.htm. I only added “THE HOUSE OF HUSAR” to it. I will drop it off at Kinkos Saturday morning. I hope they print it by end of day. I will head over to the hardware store and pick up some plexi to mash the new marquee between. I will pick up a brighter florescent light as well. I think it will look pretty hot.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that the final parts come for the cabinet Saturday. I ordered a new 3” translucent red trackball and a new spinner. Both are USB and will plugin right into the Mac. No controller boards needed. I also ordered a 12v light that I will have to hook into the power supply of the Mac. The light goes under the control panel on the trackball. It will make the trackball grow a nice red.
With any luck I will have it all installed and working tomorrow! With the spinner we can get in some Golden Tee and Bowling right away. The spinner will finally let me get my Tempest on!

Husar, I think that is awesome. I have been following this project. I know that i’m going to have to re-read some of it later on. it is a great use of a mac mini.
The looks friggin’ sweet!!!!
Hey Scott. Been a while and glad to see you stopping by again. Trackball and spinner will be here tomorrow! Can’t wait to install them and get some Golden Tee and Bowling going.
I’ve been around the whole time, I just didn’t have time to read the site. But The nice thing about RSS is that it is very easy to catch up! So when can I order one of these machines from you?
They are not that hard to build. To get started check your local Craigslist. Search “arcade” and keep an eye open for anyone wanted to get rid of a well an old arcade machine. I bought mine for $30. Sanded it down and painted it. Mine is in pretty good shape. Old 21” CRTs are pretty cheap these days as well. That is half of it right there.
Completed MAME machines can go for 1500+. No counting the computer you can do it for a few hundred easy. The track ball is about $100 and the most expensive part other than PC but most people have something old around the place they can use. If you did not need a trackball then it is really inexpensive. Well worth the effort to be able to play just about any arcade game you want when ever you want.
I plan to do a another videos when I get my new trackball in. Maybe my top 5 trackball games would be a good one.
