New Blue Tires and the Crank Arm Blues
I think Brian last night at the CITA meeting passed along the bad mojo to me. Tonight was bitter sweet and did nothing to get me out of a bad mood I am in.
It started off by going down to Rassy’s to get some new tires for the single speed. So far so good after getting them on my bike. They look pretty sweet with my blue (beat up) handle bars.
I wanted to work out my bad mojo with a quick ride before the sun sets. So I skipped dinner, changed, and jumped on the single speed to give the new tires some miles.
Here is my GPS track. Red was going and green was heading back. Distance: 8.876 km out for 33 minutes, 9 seconds. Average Speed: 16.060 km/hour. Coming back as 7.326 km, 28 minutes, 12 seconds. Average Speed: 15.579 km/hour
But all heck breaks lose on the way back. If you are looking at the map it was right when I started on green path back. The bike starts to feel might odd pedaling. I looked down and thought I had a flat. No flat. Keep pedaling. It was almost like a wobble. So I stopped and flipped the bike over. The fricking crank arm was loose. Okay I just figured I would tighten it. All tight. flip bike and back on the road. About a mile later same thing. Okay this sucks.
It took me three stops to make it back home each time having to tighten up the crank arm. So I get home and then this explains it all.

I am sure the crank arm is not serviceable now. How the heck did I bend the metal like this?

This is a first for me. Never jack up a crank arm. Now I need to by new arms I guess. Maybe I can find some blue ones on eBay.
