Last Wednesday I was looking for a movie on Netflix and came across LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. After reading the description I was immediate interested. You see I love a good vampire movie and after watch this one it just skyrocketed to the top of my top movie list. To say I liked this movie is an understatement.
The movie is about a 12-year-old boy named Oskar. Oskar is picked on by the other kids and never strikes back. He meets Eli, also 12, who moves in next door to him with her father. Eli and Oskar become friends but Eli is a little different. She doesn’t go to school and only comes out at night. Coinciding with Eli’s arrival is a series of inexplicable disappearances and murders. Throughout the movie Eli encourages Oskar to fight back against the constant bulling as they become closer.
The movie is dark and disturbing and an epic vampire tale. It is by far my favorite vamp movie of all time. As a kid I would stay up late by myself and scare the be-jesus out of myself watching horror movies. As an adult now you never get that same feeling back as a young movie watcher. LET THE RIGHT ONE IN certainly brough back some of that.
Swedish filmmaker Tomas Alfredson hits all the right buttons covering friendship, rejection and loyalty. The movie is about adolescence and is very poetic in the storytelling. The cinematography is a real treat to watch. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I only wish I would have read the book before the movie.
Put this movie on your must-see list and comment back after you watch it to tell me what you think.

Thanks Scott. I also failed intentionally to mention that the movie is subtitled. English is not the origial language. Hopfully that won’t turn too many people away.
I may watch because I can stream it. I’m an instant access whore. If I can’t stream it, I’m not watching.
Sweet! Thanks for the recommendation. Will put that into the “must watch” pile right after King-Fu Hustle and Where The Buffalo Roam.
I certainly hope you are kidding.
I was going to ask if this was subtitled. Sounds very interesting. I love European films. They, for the most part, are driven by story as opposed to American films which are mostly driven by action. And I love a good subtitled foreign film.
Can you compare the style to any other film? I try to stay away from gratuitous evil imagery that a lot of horror films being made today take on. In other words are people contorted in ways that make them look like demons or like characters in NIN/Marilyn Manson music videos..you know what I’m talking about?
Great plot summary by the way.
