  1. Well this is the first time I have posted a video of me talking and showing myself. I am a little disturbed since there are 3 or 4 times when I totally see my Dad in me. That is scary and makes me feel old.

Sorry about the Ahs, Ums, Ahs. I will get better in future videos. I have a bunch of projects in the works that I will be doing video demos like this. Keep your eyes to the RSS for details soon.

    Cheers.

  2. First, I know I’ve said it before, but now I have a good reason not to have the pop over video. I wanted to start leaving a comment while the video was still playing based on things I saw in during the video, but had to wait until it finished playing.

    Now, on to the video….

The Lens looks good, and I was surprised how well it worked. Duct tape would work, but it’s really not practical. You may want to try some super strong magnets. Mount one set to the camera and the other to the lens. Another thought would be if you still had the Nikon, you could take it apart and glue the lens mount to the flip, and then screw on the lens when needed. You might be able to find a non-working Nikon cheap somewhere for just this purpose.

  3. It is much easier that I thought it was going to be. YouTube has a few videos of people doing the same thing. Check out this photo http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3402/3645120475_2cf8ca699e.jpg for the rings. Pretty much what you sent as well.

All I need to do is get a step down right. I think the lens is a 30mm so I need to buy a 42mm to 30mm step down ring and super glue it on. I called my local camera shop and no luck. These rings only sell for a few bucks. It will cost me more to have it shipped that what the ring cost I think.

I to was blow away by the quality too. Flip needs to build this into their next version for sure. The cool think about the lens I am using is it is much better optics than the one others are using and it will take full 72mm filters. Most people use the cheap lens like in that photo above. Those are like $30 to buy. I think my lends was $250 at the time. I looked online and they are still $100 to get. I am hunting for a full fisheye lens that they made for the Nikon 950 now. Then I can make videos just like the Beastie Boy. :)

  4. Okay, I hear you. I am going to make it an option for uses to view either way. Just need some time to add that. Soon…

  5. Argh…late to the party here. Also noticed that the lens seemed to not only up the “vivid”, but seemed to increase the sharpness as well. Now if only you can figure out a way to slide this lens on and off. Perhaps mount it on a form fitted sheath of some type? Would hate to have to superglue it to the body of the camera ;-)

  6. I ordered a step-down ring today. I got a 30mm to 28mm right. That is what I will super glue to the flip. So then I can just screw on the lens or any 28mm lens that that matter just like any camera has.

I think the reason it bumps up the vividness (if that is a word) is that the camera is taking in a much larger view. You get the sky and the grass for example so it process all that and give better color. Basically there is much more brights and darks to work with.

  7. I won’t be all geeky about this…I just liked watching you. :O

  8. More video of me coming soon. I have a few projects in the works so I plan to shoot them like this one. Kind of a trippy effect holding the camera out like I did in this one. :)
