iPhone Video Shooting & Editing
I have been using an app called Vintage Video the past few weeks. Nice app for $1.99. This app is turning out to really be something special as far as iPhone apps go. Basically the app apply filters to a make your iPhone videos look like old film or several other effects. There is Black & White, 20′s Movie, 60′s Home Video, Sepia, Sepia Vintage and None. You can also add music to your apps and it comes with a few tracks or you can load your own.
You splice and edit individual videos together which is not something you can do on the iPhone with the standard iPhone photo/video app. It also gives you the feature of adding in slides like silent files between your video clips.
You can speed up or slow down the video as well. If you do a 2x speed increase and use the 20′s video effect it looks like an old silent film. Also you can create the video at different sizes. The largest is 640×480 which I use most all the time.
The interface is really easy to use. I have to say this app is turning into one of my favorites! Here is a video I created entirely on my iPhone. The footage is Noah riding his bike trying to make it over the many obstacles our at Center trail. No editing was done on anything other than my iPhone. The effects applied include the 20′s video, silent film slides between some clips, speed at 1.5x, and their piano 1 music.
One other effects I really like is the ability to FTP into your iPhone to download the movies when they are done processing. Excellent feature. You can also FTP video not shot with the iPhone from your computer on to your iPhone. Then bring them into the app and apply your effects. Very useful.
The 60′s video effect is also pretty nice. It saturates the colors a bit along with a few other things to make the film effect look a little older. Here is the same video with different effects added. Effects include the 60′s movie effect, speed set to 1.0x, I added in a black lead and end slide with a radial in/out effect, and a projector sound that comes with the app.
You can expect many more videos over the summer created entirely on my iPhone!

Blogging geek Dad that loves to do long runs, ride his bikes, partake in frosty beverages, listen to live music, watch movies, hike high into the mountains, and hang out with his family doing any of the above. Oh, and write code late into the wee hours of the morning.
The questions that begs to be asked….how many attempts did it take the “old Man” before he cleared that big log on his MTB? I know lots of people that still walk that one. Good job Noah!
That is an easy one but I almost went over the bars on another log obstacle. There is one in Denmans that is higher but a bit shorter than this one. Not as even either. My front tire hit is weird and my weight was going forward. Lost to a quick flight over the bars!
But I do remember having to walk over the first mount in this video when I first started riding out there about 6 years ago.
This is the first year that he has been able to get over these parts of the trail. His new bike is a bit lighter so that helps. But he is also more daring this year for sure. Looking forward to about 4 years when he can really give me a run for my money out on the trails.
