Time Lapse Video Examples

Another excellent I have started to play with is Reel Moments. It is a time lapse that allows you to control the length between each photo and compresses them into a video. Here is a quick example of using the to record a downtown on a cloudy day.

The shutter interval can be set to 2,5,10,15 or 20 seconds. You can also set the time you want to record for between unlimited to 15, 30, 60 and 120 minutes. And 15 or 30 fps playback is selectable as well. In the example above I shot it at 30 fps and 2 second intervals. The dive was about 7 minutes I think.

In this next example of some thunderstorms coming in, I had it set to a frame every 5 seconds. I let it run from for about 25 minutes compressed at 15 fps.

I used my Ultra grip and a new iPhone tripod mount I picked up for a few bucks. I was low on battery so I connected one of my battery backups to the iPhone as well.

  1. Wicked app! I’m amazed at the lack of traffic on the road. Was this during a work day?

  2. Lol. That was like 6:30 PM on a Monday. There are a few 100,000 people in the Des Moines metro. I can drive all the way across the city in less than 30 minutes at rush hour. Midwest livin’ brother!

  3. Time lapse photos are cool. I use an app for the Android called……Time Lapse:

I have the paid version, which allows for large video size. Seeing your videos reminds me I need to get back to doing some time lapse stuff. I only have 1 on my site from a snow this past year:

But I like the one of the clouds. You have inspired me to shoot more time lapse!!!

  4. Nice one on the shoveling time lapse. Post back here if you make any more. I love looking at this stuff. I one I have been wanting to shoot is my sleeping to see how much I role around!
