I picked up a new Amod data logger last week. This is the same one I used last summer but I dropped it and it broke on a bike trip. So I picked up another one. At only $60 they are of the best gadgets in my arsenal. Turn it on and clip it on your backpack, bike or anything else. It tracks you until you turn it off. It has lots of options for setting how frequency it records your location, what gets recorded, and goes for a couple of days on 3 AAA batteries.

I did a test last week and uploaded both the track file and photos taken with my iPhone to EveryTrail. The iPhone embeds GPS location in each photo so it works out great. If you don’t have a camera that embeds the location not a problem. If you sync the camear and the datalogger’s time then it can place your photos on the rout using the synced time.

I uploaded my photos to flickr and then used EveryTrail to point the photo to the flickr set. EveryTrail then does the rest and mashes everything together. I have not used Every trail since last summer. They have made some nice updates so I think I will be upload my tracks and photos there for a while. I can easily embed the results in my blog, post to FaceBook and Twitter, or view on their website.

You can let the map play or click it for particular photos. The elevation and speed is also graphed out. Look at the bottom of the map for the features toolbar.
