Helio Ocean Video Testing
Two weeks ago I introduced Ella to riding her bike without the training wheels. It took her about an hour and she was starting and stopping without any help from anyone. Now she is hell on wheels and you can’t get her off the bike. She has fallen a few times but always gets back up and rides on. She even took a handle bar to the eye and jumped right back on the bike after a quick check to wipe the tears and assure her she was okay.
I figured she would be a good subject for some very quick Helio Ocean video testing. I did not play with the setting on the device so this is just the “standard” settings. There is one higher setting and the next test will be on that setting with some editing to add in opening and closing titles.
This is 22 seconds long and I converted to Flash Video with little or not compresson on it. The jaggies you see at the start are a result of the FLV compression and don’t show in the original file. It is 1.8MB in size.
I am pretty inpressed with the quality. As long as I have good lighting and not in a dark or semi-dark room indoors I have been very happy with the output.
Look for some more video and image testing soon.

Good for her for taking the training wheels off! I loved my bike when I was a kid.
The video seems a bit skippy. Is that how the original plays too? I think I have read that the camera takes video at 15 fps. I have read that people complain about the video quality of the Helio Ocean, but that is why I have a separate digital camera for. It looks good for those on-the-spot moments.
It is okay for quick shots like this one. I think it might do higher than 15fps if you reduce the video size done. You have two to select from on the phone.
