Home Theater Update: Screen Build
I finished off my screen last night. I ended up mounting it with Velcro for now. I am thinking about putting hinges on it at the top. This would allow me to swing the screen up to access the speakers, cables, lights and that kind of stuff. Here are just a few screen shots from my iPhone. My first row is at 11 feet and I can’t see any of the weave from the Seymour screen fabric. I just can’t say enough how much I am impressed with both the Seymour screen and the Epson 8350. It is something that has to be seen to be appreciated. For now you will just have to check these grainy...

Here is the start of my screen build photos. I finished about 5 minutes into the Super Bowl so I did not get a chance to mount it to the wall yet. I just propped it up to start watching the game. I also did not get any more photos since I was trying to just get finished in time. This is the start of a 120” Seymour AT screen. This is what I used to secure the 1x4s together. 1×4 poplar. 3 11′ long each This is how I will attach the corners of the wood. After cutting to length 2@112” and 2@59” I placed them in the living room and had my son and one of our...

I worked on the stage this last weekend. I am converting the stage from having the speakers in front of the screen to having the speakers behind the screen hidden from view. This means I have to buy screen material that is acoustically transparent. The sound will have to travel through the screen material to the viewers ears. I will be building my screen so that will be another DIY projects to add on my list. The first step is moving my screen wall out to about 21 inches from the back stage wall. This should give me enough room for my current speakers and new subs. I am building my own...

Finally got a coat of paint in the shelves. Pretty happy with it but it needs one more coat or maybe two. Don’t think I will get to trimming it out until I figure out my wall...

Yep, you guessed it another HT update. I am so predicable these days! I have been working like crazy lately on the theater room. So close to finishing it. For starters the entire room is painted! Woot. Here is the color scheme I am going with. Here are a couple of photos of the gray on the walls. I was so excited after getting two coats of paint on the walls. It really brought it all together how much work I have done over the past few weeks. I was really motivated to get by butt working in the rack and media shelves after painting. Here is the current progress. I think it is turning...
