Terra snapped this photo on her iPhone 4 in the backyard and sent to Sam’s Club to make 11×14 prints for Christmas gifts. Sam’s ended up calling and asking if she had copyright permissions to print professionally shot photos. He laughed and told them she shot the photo with her iPhone. The next day when she went to pick them up they made her sign extra paper work that the photo was not a professional work and she owned it. Pretty funny I think.

I converted the photo to b&w on my iPhone for her. They printed great at 11×14. We did a special gift idea that I will share in another post soon with final photos of what she ended up doing.

Adidas created these for the Fixed Gear Revolution event. This event is the largest biking event in China. They happen to use my software to run the goldsprints races.

Shanon who runs a bike shop in China and hosts the goldsprints event sent me these. When I told her I wear size 14 she said no one has that big of feet so I had her send a size 9 for my son. Here are a few photos. Nice set of kicks!

I put together a handful of clips from our Colorado vacation this summer. It is just over 13 minutes of video. The clips are from all over the place but I tried to put them in chronological order. I wish I would have taken video at our campsite in Buena Vista. That was one of the best parts of our trip. I did not add any music but surprisingly the audio from a music festival we were at turned out great. These were all shot and put together on my iPhone.

I will be in Colorado for the next week for some much needed vacation. What better way for me to post updates than showing you photos of the adventure and having them automatically posted to the map below. Click any thumbnail on the map to see the blog post.

If all goes well you can watch me photo essay my entire Colorado vacation on the map below. Each photo I take will be upload to the site and placed on the map in real time. The process is pretty simple: 1. Take photo with iPhone 4. 2. Upload to the site as a blog post and tag it with a special identification 3. The site will place the photo in the that particular post on the map based on its GPS location. 4. Site back and watch the map get more and more photos daily!

Note that this post will remain as the top post while I am on vacation. All of the photos posts will show below this post on the main blog page. This will make it you can more easily access this map from my font page as I start to make photos posts.

Bookmark this page and let the vacation begin!

Update: lots of photos are overlapping so make sure you zoom into the map to see them all.

I am sweating buckets out on the deck tonight buy I’m not complaining. I’ll take the sunny and hot over the cloudy and rain any day. I have been installing the deck speakers. I have all my wire run and everything seems to be done on the outside.

Here are a few photos of the KEF Ventura 6 speakers mounted and ready to play some music. They are waterproof and sound way better than I thought they would. Bass and high sound great. I have played everything from Avett Brothers to Run DMC on them. Very happy. I will be doing a video update soon demoing the entire deck system to include the Apple Airport Express and iPhone/iPad control.

I ended up mounting the speakers to the siding with lag bolts. I wanted to mount them under the ease but I couldn’t find bolts long enough. I think I was looking at bold a foot long. The speaker wire is run through the inside of the house then routed behind the siding on the outside. If you have to do anything similar with vinyl siding make sure you get a siding removal tool. It make all the difference in the world to peel back the siding.

I ended up cutting some PVC piping to give them a slight angle down. This allows for the music to not just fly over you sitting on the deck. It should a little better and was very easy to do. See the photos below of the PVC pieces. One end if cut at 90 degree and the other about an angle.

Look for the video update of the entire system very soon.

Running wires from the inside.

This is the right speaker mount with banana clips added.

The above two image show each bracket mounted and the banana clip on the speaker wires. You can also see the PVC spacer I created.

Both speaker looking from the right.

Here is a better look at the PVC pieces I added.

Left speaker.

Wider view of the speakers mounted.

So that is the latest and greatest right now. Eventually I think I think I will add two more speakers on the far left of the house. Before I can do that I need to finish the deck on that side that will allow us to walk out from our bedroom to the deck. I will then zone 1 and zone 2 the setup.

I am not sure how any days I have put in since my last deck update so I left off the day number. I usually work on the deck a few hours after I get off the 9-5 then again, on the weekend. So it has started to all bleed together. I do have a few deck technology updates around music streaming coming this week so look for those up next.

This video ends looking at the latest section that will be a fire pit/grill area. You only see the 2×8 framed out area but when complete it will have pavers and wood as the flooring. I am not entirely sure it is all going to work out how I imagine it should but I will do my best to make it up as I go.

Sorry Boris no German techno music for the soundtrack on the video.

The fire pit is on the deck right now but I have a special place in the yard for it that I will cover in a future deck update.

We also started wrapping the tree in lights. This is perf for lighting the corner of the deck. I love to look up at the tree at night with the lights on.

Last night we had some s’mores then Ella brought out her guitar to show us the new riff she has been working on. The volume is pretty low so you will need to turn up your volume. Pretty cute stuff here…..

I am not sure what happened to day 9 but I guess I jumped from 8 to 10. The last few deck sessions were to put on the front part of the deck. This is a step down that matches up with the new section. I will be doing another section just like this off to the right and putting a fire pit in the corner.

Also in the video is the new wicker seats and table that Terra picked up off Craigslist for cheap. There were white but she painted them black and bought new cushions. She paited these all by herself using a spray gun and air compressor. They turned out great. I will get them in the next video with the new cushions on them.

Will it ever end? Not anytime soon that’s for sure. Hot off the heals of completing stage one of our deck project Terra got me started on phase two. Well, it is really starting phase two and phase three. I am not sure if the left side of the deck is phase two or phase three but the left and right side are both started. What I do know is that we are loving the new deck. Completing all of it will be that much better. I ended up digging three new post holes by hand and it was easier that the gas powered digger. I will stick with the manual hole digger going forward.
