UltraClamp + Flip Ultra HD = Fun
Spring is here and it is gadget time! I picked up a Pedco UltraClap off Amazon yesterday. The UltraClamp is a window clamp but it mounts great on my bike. Handle bars, fork, seat post all work well. Combined with my Flip Ultra HD we get some sweet HD video. The UltraClamp was less than $22 so it was a real steal. I mounted it with my Flip HD and did some test rides on my mountain bike tonight. Here are a few photos of the different ways I testing it on my bike. The clamp is metal and composite plastic. it has two ball joints so you can swivel it in just about any direction. It...

I met Justin down at Center Trail today for some tasty single track. We tooled around the woods for a while then decided to head down town for a few beers and some food. Check out the rout on the Google Map below for the entire rout. Total distance was 16.65 miles. Zoom into about the mile 3 marker to see better detail on the trail riding goodness. A few photos and a quick video are below the map. Here is a video of the ride. It is kind of random but it works. Never mind my huffing and puffing in the video. I am still trying to recover from last week being...

This is what happens when geek dad has iPhone out on the trail for the first dirt ride of 2010. I had time for a little iPhone video. Just some quick editing done in iMovie. Terra and I picked up a new bike for Noah today so we rode Roller Coaster and Hillside tonight. It is pretty brown out still here in Iowa as you can see. Looking forward to the trails getting greener. Pretty happy with the iPhone video but I think I will start to carry my Flip with me. ...

I have joined a group on Facebook for a March weight loss challenge. Most inches off and weight loss get some cash prizes. There are about 24 of us so it is not too big. As of today I am off all pop and beer for the month of March. I already have a splitting headache from not having any pop today. Just cutting pop and beer out of my schedule are a ton of calories. I don’t need to check much else on my eating habit since I don’t eat a lot of junk anyway. I will get in some bike riding as well to burn calories. Add in a few push ups and crunches each night and I should be on my...

I had back surgery in 1997. It was by far the worst thing that has happened to me medically in my life. I would not wish back problems on anyone after what I went through. Luckily I did not have my spine fused. They only removed part of my vertebrae and took parts of my L6 disc out that had broken off and wa floating round. It took me 4 years to get into decent shape and only 80% of my previous mobility. For the past 5 years I have been in pretty good shape and my back has not given me much trouble at all. I don’t need much medication these days but that all changed this weekend. ...
