First Mountain Biking of the Summer
Noah and I made it out to Center Trail on Tuesday. This was the first time we have rode dirt this spring/summer. The trails were in great condition and only one wet stop up on Rollercoaster. We only did a little over 6 miles on the dirt but had a great time. It is fun to see Noah progress each year. I often wonder when it will be that I can’t keep up with him. We hit hillside pretty hard and Noah did better than he ever has before. He still has not made it up the backside without stopping at least once. But that will change this year I think. With fresh legs he only had one stop...
Read MoreRed Flannel Race Results
I ran the Red Flannel race this weekend. This race is considered the start of running season here in Des Moines. I have only ran maybe 5 times this year so my fitness is in serious question. Lost a lot of motivation after the holidays. But I figured a really bad run might motivate me to get back to running 3-5 days a week. I was not expecting much and hoping for about 28 minutes at best for the 3 miles. I was pretty surprise when I came in officially at 26:10. I was 114th place overall for the men and placed 15th in my age group (M40-49) out of 79 racers. There were 376 male finishers...

As soon as they show up I will see if I can grab some of those and post them. I tried to ham it up whenever I saw a...

Read MoreDes Moines Marathon Packet Pickup
Headed down after work to get my half marathon packet. I also picked up my friend Paul’s packet. He is coming down from Minneapolis to run as well. He is also an active member of My Fitness Challenge. On a sour note my back is just terrible! I had to call my doctor today and get a refill on my muscle relaxers and blood thinners. I get a 30 day supply when I do a refill. I bet I only get the prescription filled 3 times a year. It is really too bad that my back is acting up just days before my first race. Oh well, what is a little more pain anyway. Bring it on! Here are a few photos I...

I am running the half marathon this weekend. My body is not 100% right now. Can’t seem to figure out why but my back is acting up. I am also working through a left calf strain. I think I’ll be okay but Sunday will be a test. There are well over 7000 people running the half. Here is just one of 26 pages of half runners. I marked my name on the list. Here is a map of the half. As I do most all my runs you can watch my progress that is broadcasted from the CycleMeter App and posted to...
