Des Moines 1/2 Marathon
I am all registered to do the half marathon on Oct. 17th at the Des Moines Marathon. You can watch my training at My Fitness Challenge. See my fitness dashboard or my fitness calendar. I did 10 miles a few weeks ago and it was really hard. That was by far the farthest I have ran since I was in the Army back in early 90′s. I started running to lose some weight. That is going well. But to be honest it is a great mind clearer lately. A buddy has been diagnosed with cancer and it is tough to take as he fights it. Running I guess has turned into a way to deal with...

I have been thinking about building a blog just for fitness updates for some time. To take it one step further my idea was to make it a social blog with more than just me blogging and tracking my fitness goals. I am happy to say that the site is up and rolling along at full speed. This is the reason I have not been blogging much here lately. I have been busy, head down, writing a bunch of custom WordPress plugins to make my idea work how I want. Other than some layout things I am still working no I am very happy with the results so far. I have a handful of friends posting their fitness...

The peak is just incredible with the rock formations. They say there is nothing like it in the entire state of CO. Make me sad that we did not reach it this time. But that is just another reason to head back to CO for another attempt. Don’t forget...

Read MoreWorld Cup Weekend
I got nothing done this weekend that I wanted. I pretty much watch World Cup football all weekend. Very happy with the US draw against England. It could have been much worse. A lose would have been pretty bad and harder for them to make it out of the first round. But the biggest moment for me was Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan winning goal against Serbia. This was a pretty important event. It was the first African win in modern FIFA World Cup competition and the first goal in a World Cup on African soil. The nation went crazy and I got goosebumps. This commercial is certainly my favorite...
