This is pretty interesting if not for no other reason than to see the setup that Peter Belanger created to capture the shot. Some are saying technical overkill. I have not see a paper copy of the cover yet but he sure when through a lot of setup to get the shot.  I will have to go down to the local magazine store and make sure to see if it is really up to par. I myself, just love the iPhone 4′s new camera.  There are so many cool and useful apps being released for the new camera my wife has pretty much cut me off from buying any new one for a while.

Make sure you check out Peter Belanger site and look at the setup. You will like it ever if you are not an iPHone fan boy like me. Stop by and tell me what you think. Technical overkill or necessary to get the right shot?

Panography is not meant to produce a seamless panoramic image like other apps. People are complaining that other apps do a much better job of stitching the individual images together. But they are missing the point. Panography is when you take individual images and overlays them to create a panoramic image. The difference is that the final image is not meant to look all neat and as a single polished image. It is more of a collage of images than a single panoramic image. See This! uses the iPhone 4′s gyroscope to find the camera’s position and automatically snaps photos as you move the camera. In that regard it is a unique app.

Here are some example I shot today at lunch.

The app does have one bugs. If I shoot about 3 images the view then appears all blurred out on anything else I try to shoot. Sounds like a memory issue to me. Shutting down the app and opening it again fixes the issue.

There are 6 different ways to display the final output image. Most of them are kind of cheesy so the black background get my vote for best way to assemble the final result.

A couple things that need to be improved is overall image quality and the size of the final output. The final image should be larger. The quality reminds of the VideoPano app that I stopped using a few weeks ago due to the quality of the final image.

See This! is a fun app to play with and it is worth the $1.99 price. I am hoping they keep working on the app and it gets better in future updates. Until then I give this app 3 out of 5 stars.

On vacation in Colorado a typical mountain storm was rolling through. We were driving when my son saw funnel cloud forming. We stopped and filmed it. View the video at full screen to get a better idea of how big it was. Filmed with my iPhone 4.

Using the AutoStitch app will allow you to crate these at full resolution. Some of them are close to 10,000 pixels wide. This is plenty big to having printed. I plan to have a few of these printed, framed, and hung in my son’s room. Look for an update on how well they printed in the future. The image you are opening up are only about 1024 pixels wide.

Noah and I had a blast on our vacation at Breckenridge. This video is of the mountain slide that is a must ride if you visit the mountain.

Hiking to the top of the Great Sand Dunes was one of the best parts of our trip. I used my iPhone 4 to shoot parts of the hike. If you ever get the chance to make it to the top of the dunes I highly recommend you take the opportunity. Took up a little over an hour of walking in the sand. The large, main dunefield covers approximately 30 square miles and rises just under 1000 feet of climbing elevation. ALL ON SAND!

Me and my son spent a week in CO. This is some footage shot with my iPhone 4 from the hike. Mother Nature chased us off the mountain before we could reach our destination.

I picked up my new iPhone 4 on Thursday. First thing I wanted to do was give it a good HD video test. One of the reasons I upgraded was in hopes of selling my Flip Ultra HD. This way I can carry only one device. If the iPhone 4 can do a decent HD job then I would be pretty happy.

Here is a sample video with the iPhone 4 and edited entirely on the iPhone with the new iMovie. Pretty happy with the result. Certainly the variable focus of the iPhone 4 is superior to the Flip. I need to do more testing on the iPhone 4 to make a final decision to sell my Flip Ultra HD.
