Flip UltraHD: Low Light/Focus Test
I managed to make another test video last night. This time testing the low light and focus distance. It looks like I need a Pro account on Video to show more than one video in HD so there is no HD option on this one. Results were as expected with noise in the low light setting. Only one light was on above the bar plus the neon in the background. I also tried to show the focus distance capabilities. As expected close up within 2 feet is the limit. Also you can hear my son playing Xbox in the background. He was about 8 feet away from the Flip. I hope to get out today and show you some of...

Here is a quick test with the new Flip UltraHD. Pretty happy with the quality but I need to stop using the zoom and step back more. It has a decent degree of zoom on it but my problem is I was shooting too close to the subjects in the garden to begin with. Then I would zoom in even more. My guess is the minimum focus distance is about 5 feet. You will have to view the movie on Vimeo to see it at full HD size. I should now finally get some use of my Vimeo account now. Tomorrow I will get some footage on my bike and post that. I am looking for a bike camera mount now. I would love to...

I was debating on getting a new point and shoot for our Colorado vacation coming up. Then I thought to myself I should just get the new iPhone to replace my 3G. I could use the new iPhone for video even if it was not HD size. I had a decision to make. After some web surfing and Goggling looking at my options I decided on a Flip UltraHD. Not a point and shoot and not a new iPhone 3GS. There are a handful of example video from the Flip UltraHD on the web that really impressed me but this vid below pretty much sealed the deal for me. Knowing that soon I will bee shooting rapids like in this...

What does WordPress themes, hookers and belly dancers all have in common? 99.9% of them are just butt ugly. I totally made that joke up and I think it is pretty darn funny! I have not posted much this week. Too busy at work and a few other projects. None of them related to hookers or belly dancers by the way. I have been looking (with little success) for a new WordPress theme to customize for this blog. I want to change a few things on the blog and don’t have the time to create my own theme. 99.9% of WordPress themes suck, fact! Visually they make me want to puke. People with no...

boing boing did a review of the Pets Eye View Camera with some pretty interesting results. The camera strap on to your pet’s collar and are $40 each. You can set the camera to take a photo every 1,5, or 15 minutes. Internal 8MB memory can hold 40 photos at 640×480. Interesting enough the camera deletes the photo after 5-6 hours. I think it would be fun to set it to record when the pets are home alone. You never know what goes on while you are out running around town. The review mentioned that most of the photos were blurry. Our older dog is a little slower (and fat) so it...
