I am planning on doing another 5k in KC in two weeks. My sister inlaw has Crohn’s so this one is for her. They have a 1 mile run/walk as well. Here is what she has to say about the race. I would love your company (feel free to invite more) on a one mile fun walk for the Crohn’s Foundation! I want to do my part in finding a cure for this crappy disease! Get it crappy? My team name is “Where is the bathroom?” pretty fitting! Anyway, this is a new event to the KC area to my knowledge so I would appreciate if any of you would be willing to walk with me! To join my...

2 Days before 5k

Only two days before I run my first 5k at the rip age of 39. I have really only been training a few weeks since I got back from my backpacking trip to CO. But despite the lack of miles I feel pretty good. I did not run yesterday but I did get out today. I did a slow 5k. I only planned to do a 3k but kept going. I was not going for any time but I did not feel too good. I think it was that I just ate 2 BLT sandwiches about 30 minutes before I ran. Here is my run from today. I am not sure if you need to be a member of the Nike Plus site to see this but here is the rout I take to do my...

Put in another 5k tonight. My legs were pretty tired and a little crampy as I started my run. Yesterday put a good working on my old sticks so I was not expecting much today. I just wanted to get the distance in. I knew I was not going to do anything close to my last 5k but I had hope.My splits were 5’35, 5’05, 6’33, 6’24, 6’03. As you can see I hit the wall at 3k. I tried to pick it up the last two 2 to save a little bit of time. One thing to note is that I don’t look at my times when I run. I just run and review it at the Nike Plus site later. I...

Run it ’till the Wheels Fall Off

Just about a week until I run my first 5k in a race. I don’t like to run at all so this is my challenge for the next three months. There is at least one 5k for the next 3 months. I plan to do one a month and train as much as I can. It is a lot of work. Tonight I wanted to run a 5k just to see where I was at on time. On the Nike Plus site my overall average is twelve minute some thing per mile for 35 runs and just under 100 miles. Nothing real special with those numbers. So my goal for the first 5k was do it in under 30 minutes. After work I was really tired and almost took a nap...
