Welcome to Jamrock

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Just little OLD me out on the trail today. I took my Flip with me and stopped a few times to shoot some video. I was having enough fun that I did not stop very much to shoot video. Thus only a few clips in this short. I had the wide angle lens on for this one. I am loving how that turned out. Perfect match for the Flip.

On another note, I am totally out of shape. I really need to jump on the horse and start working out. I am hoping that we don’t get too much rain this week. I want to continue to burn the new trail in this week and burn off some calories. Good time working on the new trail this weekend. Even better riding them the next day!

Music by Damien Marley – Welcome to Jamrock.

You should jump out to Vimeo and watch this clip as big as possible. I am still blown away by the quality of the Flip UltraHD. Everyone needs to buy one of these for themselves for xmas. I think Amazon just had them on sale for only $150. That is $50 off what I paid for mine.

Janie Jones Movie Footage

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

The movie Janie Jones was being filmed in Iowa but I think the governor has pulled the plug on movie funding. So I am not sure if they are still working in the state or not. I guess we will have to wait for the movie to see if they cut any Iowa footage out of the final film.

I was on a bike ride downtown and came across the filming of the movie at one of our small amphitheaters. I pulled out the Flip and shot a short part of their filming. No one seems to care so I am posting it.

Also, they were not really singing. Pretty sure that is Alessandro Nivola on stage with Abigail Breslin. But I could be wrong. You can see full cast list at imdb.com/title/tt1509130/

10 Photos in 10 Hours

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

While driving from Des Moines to Denver for our vacation I needed something to pass the time. I decided to take a random photo with the QuadCamera app. Th QuadCamera app takes a set number of photo at a set interval and combines them into a single photo.

The plan was to take at least one phone at the top of each hour. Since I was limited to taking them at at the top of the hour I had to work with whatever was around me at the time. Driving 80MPH down the highway added it own effects to the photos.

These turned out great. I wish I could have some of them printed and hung on the wall. Not sure what they would look like since the resolution of the iPhone is pretty limited. They kind of give off a vintage camera kind of feel to them I think. Maybe I could put them all together and print a decent single small poster sized photo for the basement.

I have a handful of these that were taking at various times on the trip. All of them while in a van. I will try to get those up this week as well.

My favorite of this bunch is probably the 10:30 AM photo. Let me know what one you like the best.

West Des Moines to Redfield Ride

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

After work I jumped on the fixed gear and headed west. I wanted to get out to Redfield and back. It came to 44 miles and it was a great ride on a great summer day. I did the ride in about 3 hours. I took time for photos along the way and a stop in Adel for a Milky Way and Gatorade on my way back.

Here is a quick photo slide show with a few photos along the way.
