After work I jumped on the fixed gear and headed west. I wanted to get out to Redfield and back. It came to 44 miles and it was a great ride on a great summer day. I did the ride in about 3 hours. What an event the Summerset Shootout turned out to be. There were more than 80 riders and a great turn out of volunteers. I was on the fence about racing. Having helped build the trails I knew how hard they were. Never having done them at race pace I knew it was gong to hurt. And hurt it did!
