Thursday’s Ride
I hit the trails behind the old Science Center again today. I rode last Sunday as well. I found out that the area is call Greenwood Park. I am not sure why I felt so bad on the first day when I got sick. I am now thinking it was heat stroke or some thing. Anyway, I am ripping up the trails now. It is funny how quick you can get used to riding again even after a few years off a bike. I am climbing better even after only 3 days out riding. Today I took a half-day at work and got a chance to ride my 29er. I heard about the trails behind the old Science Center but I am not sure their name. I was not expecting must as far as the trails but about 30 minutes into it I was having a blast. I ended up riding for about 2 hours total and had some trouble with some of the trails mostly due to the hills and my currently physical shape. I am not that out of shape but I have not ridden a bike since moving up to Des Moines. That is about 3 years. Getting the legs back is going to take some time. Well I am officially a member of the 29er club. I bought a Gary Fisher X-Caliber today. 29 inch wheels and all. I had been shopping for a new bike for a while now. I found a 19” X-Cal at my local shop and couldn’t pass it up. For the most part I have always rode a full suspension so this is a big change for me. I am really looking forward to seeing how the bike climbs. It has been so long since I have rode a hardtail. I hope to leave work early tomorrow and hit the trails.
