30 Miles Single Speed Plan
I am going to attempt a 30 mile bike ride tonight on my single speed. Never gone that far before. Checkout the map below of the projected path. Start and end at the little house icon. Red path is stage 1, green is stage 2, and purple is stage 3. This takes me from the west side all the way downtown and back. I figured out a path that did not track back on itself. I am trying to stay on the paved paths around town as much as possible. I marked this out on Google Maps by hand and it comes to 26.92 miles. Hope in the final tally puts me at 30 miles. I dropped the seat for him and to my surprise he could despite the fact that he is about 2 feet to short for it! He said he wants a single speed now. Sunday Ella had a party for her birthday with all her school friends. They rented the party room at Hy-Vee. I thought it would be a good idea to give the new bike a test ride. Noah and I set out on our bikes around 1:00. I made it about 3 miles just shy to Hy-Vee before I had to start making adjustments to the tension arm. Eventually it was so bad I have to walk the bike. After Noah and I went up and said hello to the party (and ate a cupcake or two) we loaded the bikes in the van and took them home. I manage to get everything back together on the rear end. The bike came today about 3:30. I left work around 4 to assemble it while I will had daylight. Over all I am pretty happy with what I picked up off eBay. The frame has a rattle can paint job. A few drips here and there along with some scratches from shipping. I think I will try and sand it down and repaint it. Another rattle can paint job should do the trick. Maybe I will send it off for powder coat. The handle bars are blue. I did not notice that in the auction. The front tire was also flat. UPS tracking shows the SS I won off eBay has made if from CA to the Midwest and left MN tonight at 7 PM bound for IA. Scheduled delivery says Thursday so I am hoping that holds true.
