Knee Update

I woke up today and the knee was feeling okay. No pain at all getting ready for work. It is a little tender to the touch on the spot I marked in my previous post. No real pain walking. Going down the stairs at work I can feel it a little. I really wish I had one more day to recoup. I think I could make the run. But I don’t have any extra days. Bad News

Yesterday I had a pretty good run for 7.3k but at the end my knee was hurting. After I showered and relaxed it started hurting a little more. By the morning it was really hurting when I moved my leg at all. Unless I kept my leg straight the pain was pretty bad. I went home and got a knee brace at lunch but that did not help much. 5k Training- Week 2 Sprints

I ran my sprints last night. 2×800, 2×400 and 2×200. I walked half the distance between each sprint. So when doing my 800m I walk a 400m then start the next 800m. It is about perfect to catch my breath and be ready for the next sprint. 5k Training – Week 2

Here is this weeks training. The sprints get longer with 800m being added to the workout along with some shorter 200m. Since I am going for 7 minute miles here are the times I am going for on each sprint. For 7:00 goal pace (21:44), it’s 0:53 (200m), 1:45 (400m), 3:30 (800m). Well, week one is history and I thought I would give an update on my formal 5k race training. At least 3 times a week I ask myself why I am doing this.
