Canadian Death Race
I have really enjoyed running trails recently. I think as I continue to progress as a runner more miles will happen on dirt compared to concrete or asphalt. There is just something about running in the woods that calls out to me. Maybe it is the non-repetitive strides that are necessary to navigate a dirt trail through the woods compared to pounding the pavement. Whatever it is I can see a race like this in my future within the next few of...

I have been using an app called Vintage Video the past few weeks. Nice app for $1.99. This app is turning out to really be something special as far as iPhone apps go. Basically the app apply filters to a make your iPhone videos look like old film or several other effects. There is Black & White, 20′s Movie, 60′s Home Video, Sepia, Sepia Vintage and None. You can also add music to your apps and it comes with a few tracks or you can load your own. You splice and edit individual videos together which is not something you can do on the iPhone with the standard iPhone...

Sunday I took the Flip out with me on the trail trying to mount it to the front fork and handle bars. In both cases it came loose far too often. I was hoping to get some sample video from that ride but after looking at the footage it was too jumping. I trashed it all and started thinking of how I could MacGyver the Flip to the front fork better. It is not very portable since I have to cut the zip ties to get it on and off each...

What a weekend! I put in an egress window with my Father in-law and it was a ton of work. It is going to be a week before my body recovers. I will post photos, video and more details about this experience tonight. Pretty sure I am won’t be doing that home improvement job any time soon. Other than the window install I was able to get in a Sunday night single track ride at Center trail. Even though my body was hurting and I was really tired I had to get out. The weather was just incredible all weekend. I couldn’t let it go to waste on back breaking window install labor. Here...

This is what happens when geek dad has iPhone out on the trail for the first dirt ride of 2010. I had time for a little iPhone video. Just some quick editing done in iMovie. Terra and I picked up a new bike for Noah today so we rode Roller Coaster and Hillside tonight. It is pretty brown out still here in Iowa as you can see. Looking forward to the trails getting greener. Pretty happy with the iPhone video but I think I will start to carry my Flip with me. ...
