Great Way to Check for Flights

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

I am going out to LA next week for the Adobe MAX conference. I wanted Terra to come out for a few day but it looks like that is not going to happen. In the process of looking for flights I found a great site for comparing flights for a few months at a time. You select the departure city and starting month, then a arrival city and a ending month. It creates a nice graph that shows you each day between your start and end date. You roll over the days to see the price.

The site really is just a shell to search all the airline to get the cheapest and fastest flight. It works well and is super easy to do compared to Expedia and some of the the other major online travel sites.

Here is a screen shot of flights from Chicago to Dublin, Ireland from Jan to Feb 2010.

Garden of the Gods Video #1

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

Here is the first of two videos from Garden of the Gods. These should be about the last of our Colorado vacation videos from the summer. I might have a few very short clips left but they are bits and pieces that did not make it into any of the videos already online. This video has us just getting to the Garden of the Gods and walking around.

Rocky Mountain National Park – Video #2

Monday, August 31st, 2009

This is a second video from our drive across the Rocky Mountain National Park. These clips are mostly from stops where we climbed up some of the more touristy stops. I did not get any video of it but we got caught in a big snow storm while walking around at about 12,500ft. It was cold as heck, windy, and the snow/hail was pounding us. It would have probably wrecked the camera had I filmed that part of the walk.

Searching for Bluegrass (The Sam Lopez Story)

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

samSam Lopez from our very own CITA group is on one hell of a trip. He is riding his bike out east in search of Bluegrass. I can’t remember what his final destination is but I think he is going all the way to the east coast. As of today he is six days into the adventure and has traveled 318 miles (512 km). He is logging the trip with photos at http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/tourborasam. You can check out the thumbnails page here of follow the rss feed here. Jump over to the guestbook and leave him some comments of encouragement!

I am sitting here thinking. I wonder if I could make it up to Wisconsin this summer on a bike. I have never really thought of doing a long solo bike trip until Sam start his trip. But the adventure and the challenge of it is getting my gear turning. We go up to Wisconsin at least one time over the summer. I could leave before the family and start riding. The family could leave after me and meet up half way to say hello and resupply. The family continues to drive up and I keep peddling. I wonder how long it would take me? I am going have to start some research and see what kind of rout I can come up with.
